The four universal quality factors are a useful starting point. The value comes from how they work together.
Cut
Light, balance and lifeCut controls brilliance, fire and visual balance. For round diamonds it receives a laboratory grade; for fancy shapes, proportions and appearance require expert evaluation.
Color
From icy white to warmFor white diamonds, the GIA scale runs from D to Z. Small grade differences can affect price, while personal preference and metal color can make near-colorless grades an intelligent choice.
Clarity
What can actually be seenClarity describes inclusions and blemishes. The grade matters, but so do the inclusion’s location, type and visibility. An eye-clean diamond can offer better value than paying for rarity you cannot see.

Lab-grown diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds have the same crystal structure, hardness and optical properties as mined diamonds. The difference is their origin—and the more accessible price it makes possible.
Shape
Round diamonds generally command a premium. Fancy shapes are priced differently according to demand, yield and the beauty of their individual outline.
Grading reports
An independent laboratory report documents the stone’s measured characteristics and origin. At LILYAN, lab-grown center diamonds of 1.00 ct and above include an IGI report.
